[REC]4 Apocalypse

Jaume Balagueró

A few hours after the gruesome events of [REC] 2, an elite squad of soldiers infiltrates a creaky old Barcelona apartment building to extract young reporter Angela Vidal (Manuela Velasco), the lone survivor of a rage-zombie-virus-demonic-possession outbreak that has turned the tenement into a blood-spattered slaughterhouse. Angela wakes up in a high-security quarantine facility located in the bowels of an ocean freighter. She's safe and sound — but unfortunately for her and her unlucky shipmates, this isolated location might just be the perfect incubator for the next mutation of a virus that rips apart bodies and souls.

The terrifying climax to one of the most consistently entertaining horror franchises of the past decade, [REC] 4 Apocalypse is what fans have been waiting for: the ultimate final showdown. Jaume Balagueró, who co-directed [REC] and [REC] 2 with Paco Plaza (Plaza directed [REC] 3 solo), returns to helm the fourth instalment of the saga and finish the series off with a spectacular and bloody bang.

As plucky "final girl" Angela teams up with a ragtag group of survivors, grabs whatever makeshift weapons come to hand (from harpoons to the whirling blades of an outboard motor) and dives into combat with the raging, infected hordes, you'll get everything you've grown to love and expect from the [REC] movies — claustrophobia, anguish, fear, and fury — as well as some new and wild elements in the dark and complex mystery that's been unravelling for the past five years.

The apocalypse is about to begin. Run, flee, and never look back....
